Matilda “Tillie” Dunaj, age 91, formerly of Berkley, MI and Largo, FL, met with her Lord on Monday, March 9, 2009, at Christian Care Nursing Center in Muskegon. Known for her caring, wit and charm; declining health and the death of her husband brought Tillie to live near her daughter.
Tillie worked as an accountant for Door Man Manufacturing in Royal Oak. She was a former member of the Lewiston Lions Club and enjoyed baking, sewing, oil painting, playing the piano, reading, homemaking and crafts (including caning chairs and wine making).
She is survived by her son, Glen (Susan), daughter Marilyn (John A.) Strainer, and grandsons Adam (Debbie), Paul (Lynette), David (Kathryn), Matthew (Dawn), and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dunaj, infant daughter, Sharon, and her sisters, Albina Valenti and Josephine Povelates.
