Howard D. Brown, age 72, of Ferrysburg passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 at Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence in Spring Lake. He was born July 4,1936 to Duane and Doris (VanderHaden) Brown in Muskegon and married Nancy E. Mitchell on January 2, 1955 in Miami, FL. Nancy preceded him in death on March 22, 2007.
Howard had been a resident of the Tri-Cities area since 1962 and had retired from Northern Machine as an engineer. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War having served in both the Marines and the Air Force. Howard was a member of the American Legion Post #28 and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, flying, boating and traveling.
Survivors include his two daughters, Debbie (Warren) Klukos of Grand Haven, Dixie Brown of Ferrysburg; two sons, Howard (Georgia) Brown, Jr. of Ferrysburg, Dan Brown of New Jersey; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, John (Carla) Brown of Fruitport, Bruce (Linda) Kenney of Muskegon and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Graveside Service for Howard will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Spring Lake Cemetery with Rev. Leonard Sudlik officiating. Military Honors will be given by the American Legion Post #28. Memorials to Hospice of North Ottawa are appreciated.
