L. Novella Hodges LaTourette, age 86, of Spring Lake, passed away Monday, June 8, 2009 at North Ottawa Community Hospital. She was born December 17, 1922 in Dresden, TN to John C. and Catherine (Sullivan) Hodges. She married Guy H. LaTourette on April 13, 1941 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1998.
Novella was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She also enjoyed a love of nature, gardening, cooking, dancing and being an advocate for special needs persons. She had worked as a manager of two restaurants and as assistant manager of the Lansing Country Club. Novella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the St. Mary’s Women’s Club, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lansing.
Survivors include her loving family of four daughters: Janice (Kurt) Wipperfurth of Ormand Beach, FL, Colleen (Bill) Malcolm of Spring Lake, Mary Ann (Jack) Woodyard of Ypsilanti, MI, Linette LaTourette of Grand Haven; five grandchildren: Melissa Boumann, Barbara Wipperfurth, Kurt Guy Wipperfurth, Jennifer Jory, Jason Jory; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass for Novella will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Leonard Sudlik as celebrant.
