Obituary:
Marcia E. Keller, 86, of Spring Lake, Michigan entered eternal glory with Jesus Christ on Friday, August 21, 2009. She was born February 13, 1923 in Chicago, IL, to Joseph A. and Helen L. (Beck) Marland. Marcia was a graduate of the University of Chicago and married Thomas W. Keller on September 6, 1951 in LaGrange, Illinois; Tom preceded her in death on February 12, 2006. Marcia and Tom were childhood sweethearts, having attended Lyons Township High School together in LaGrange, where they lived and grew up on the same street. Marcia lived in Spring Lake since 1977, after she and Tom relocated from LaGrange. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spring Lake, and was involved in their Widows Might ministry. Marcia thrived on Bible study (often participating in several courses at a time), reading, caring for her family and plants, cooking and spending time with her loved ones. She learned Greek and Hebrew in her ‘70’s, in order to better study God’s Word, and volunteered at Love INC. Marcia was an active DAR member for many years, also. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marcia E. Keller II of IL; three sons: Peter J. (Laura) Keller of IL, Mark T. Keller of NC, and Scott R. Keller of Spring Lake; seven grandchildren: Jordan, Jennifer, Laura, Thomas II, Sandra, Aleksei, and Julian; two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Emma; one younger sister, Helen Alden of VA, a sister-in-law, Rae Leah Callaway of IL, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Tom, Marcia was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Lundin. A service of praise and thanksgiving to celebrate Marcia’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Spring Lake, with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. A time to meet with the family and share refreshments with Marcia’s friends and relatives will follow the service. Interment will be private in Illinois.
