Mr. Charles D. Holmes, age 57, of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at his home. He was born February 9, 1952 in Mercer, WI to Hiram and Josephine (Hoover) Holmes and had resided in the Allegan area before moving to Grand Haven.
He was a member of IBEW West Michigan Local 275 and the Grand Haven Eagles. He loved traveling, listening to music, fishing, collecting wolf art and most of all his grandchildren.
He is survived by 2 children, Carissa Adams and Charles Daniel Holmes; 6 grandchildren: Kaleb, Blythe, Kaydince, Marissa, Grace and John; his girlfriend of many years, Sandy Butcher, and her children: Robert, Casey and Jamie Butcher; his beloved dog, Boomer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters: Judy Babic, Beverly Schwartz, Carol Hambley, Betty Babic and Gloria Holmes; and 1 step-son, John Joseph “JJ” Clifton.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Pastor Jeff Elzinga officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Harbor Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association.
