Maxine A. Christopher, age 86, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010, at her home. She was born May 16, 1923, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Demetrius and Florence (Martindale) West and lived most of her life in the Tri-Cities area.
Maxine married Nelson “Chris” Christopher in December of 1945 and he preceded her in death on September 17, 1989. She had been employed as a hammer fitter for Story & Clark, and she enjoyed gardening, going to barn sales, and crocheting.
Survivors include her three sons: Nels (Bonnie) Christopher of Spring Lake, Daniel (Sheilla) Christopher of Fruitport, and Ken (Karen) Christopher of Suttons Bay, MI; eight grandchildren: Adrienne (Andy) Hubbard, Josh Christopher, Chris Christopher, Cassie McFarland, Jerrad Christopher, Jesse Christopher, Jacob Christopher, and John Seelman; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Thelma Bicknese and Flo Durkee; and one brother, Ed West.
A Memorial Gathering will be held 2-5 PM Sunday, February 14, at the home of Dan and Sheilla Christopher, 6888 Haney Rd., Fruitport, MI 49415. Interment will be in West Olive Cemetery.
