Mary J. Levsay, age 97, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence. Mary was born July 7, 1912 in Grand Haven to Joseph and Pauline (Lopresti) Capitano and married Oren “Sam” Levsay on September 26, 1940 in Holland. Her husband preceded her in death on April 4, 1982.
A life-long resident, Mary retired from the Grand Haven school district as a baker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and she enjoyed teaching ceramics at her home and being with her family.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Janis (Douglas) Bucha of Niles, and her son, Dennis Levsay of Spring Lake; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Aaron Bucha; a great-grandson, Lucas Bucha; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Connie Capitano of Wisconsin. Mary was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held Friday, March 5, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel DePew as celebrant. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorials to Hospice of North Ottawa Community are appreciated.
